About
Stop Abuse For Everyone (SAFE) is a nonprofit, domestic violence awareness and prevention organization that was founded in 1983. Our mission is a commitment to provide education, support, and advocacy for all people in Clarion County impacted by domestic violence.
SAFE was founded with the belief that all people are entitled to a life of dignity, security, and privacy. We have chosen to address the issue of family violence because we believe that it is not an individual problem, which can yield to an individual solution, but a social problem requiring action by organized efforts.
To these ends, SAFE has adopted a philosophy and a plan of action which includes:
1. Direct service to survivors, including a 24-hour hotline, domestic violence counseling, shelter,
and other emergency services.
2. Public education covering the extent and causes of family violence and the assistance available to survivors.
3. Systems advocacy through ongoing contact with a variety of local service agencies.
As grassroots activists, we draw our strength from the community at large. Our volunteer recruitment, our financial support, and our credibility rest with our willingness to serve every segment of society. We cannot and will not discriminate against any potential volunteer or any potential service recipient on the basis of personal, social, or economic status. Every phase of SAFE's program requires confidentiality and respect for the privacy of both volunteers and service recipients.
